I attended two years of college at Dickinson State, then came home to the family ranch north of Lemmon.  I married Kerry Veeder (from Watford City) in 1974.  Kerry works at Dacotah Bank in Lemmon.  We bought the family ranch and have been here for 35 years!

We have 3 children, Shanna (29), who married Jordan Franzen in 2003. They have a two-year-old daughter, Asha Hope.  Shanna got her degree from Dickinson State University in 2004.  They were living in Lead, SD, where Shanna worked for Black Hills State University in Spearfish and Jordan was the Activities Director at Lead-Deadwood High School.  However, Shanna recently landed a job with Microsoft at the Fargo, ND branch, so this summer their family is packing up and heading to the arctic north!

Seth (26) got his bachelor’s (Psychology and Honors) from UND in 2004, then moved to Baltimore, MD to get his Master’s in Counseling and Student Affairs.  He has been working at Johns Hopkins University for the past two years, but will be moving to Miami this fall to begin his Doctorate in the counseling program at the University of Miami.

Our youngest, Shad (18) is a busy young man – from sports to fine arts to FFA, and working a few hours a week at KBJM, he helped us ease into the transition to “empty nesters” a bit early because it seemed he was never home the last two years of his high school career!  He graduated at the top of his class (like father, like son!!  Haha!)  from Lemmon High School this spring and will be attending South Dakota State University in Brookings this fall.  He will have a busy first year, as he has been selected to represent West River as the SD State FFA Vice President.

We enjoy spending time with our children and grandchild. We like attending high school sporting events, and being involved in community organizations of all kinds.  The past two summers I have kept myself pretty busy judging rodeos across North & South Dakota and Wyoming.  I enjoy golf, rodeo, and training horses, and even took up skiing this past winter.  Kerry and I both like to walk, we really enjoy the quiet, open space of the ranch, but are not looking forward to becoming empty-nesters!
