Daryl’s father was my father’s brother.  Daryl had more siblings at home than I did, so it was always fun to go to their farm.  I remember sledding down the big hill behind their barn and all of us ice skating on a little creek close by.  I loved going with Daryl and Lane to the Beisigl School, a rural grade school close to their farms.  We really lost touch after high school but the memories we made through the years will keep both of ‘the boys’ close to me forever.

Daryl Bruce Friez

January 14, 1952-July 15, 2005

Daryl married Wanda Kay Haas in Bismarck, ND on July 28, 1972.  They made their home in Bismarck where Daryl worked at the Super Valu Warehouse for nearly thirty years.  Daryl and Wanda were blessed with two children, Nicole Amy and Jeremy Todd.  In recent years his family expanded to welcome daughter-in-law, Amber in 2002, a son-in-law, Jared Desautel in 2002, and a very adored granddaughter, Liberty Kay Friez in 2004.

On his off time he enjoyed cooking, reading, antique shopping, motorcycling, and being with his friends and family.  Part of the family included their dogs, Otis, Charlie and Elle.  He was a hard working, moral and inspiring person with a great sense of humor.  Daryl’s wife, Wanda lives in Mandan and his mother Opal Friez resides in Bismarck.

On his obituary:  Two roads diverged in a wood, and I – I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.  Robert Frost

Daryl and his brothers, Wayne and Gary, had trouble being serious for a family photo at their Mother's birthday party.

The Three Mouseketeers!

This photo, taken in 1957, of the Charlotte, Lane and Daryl.  What one didn't think of, the other did - but we sure did have fun!
