No matter where I’ve lived since high school (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Washington DC, Portland, Oregon and eventually back to Wisconsin); I’ve always needed to get back home to visit.  People in the land of trees can’t imagine why I need to cross the Missouri river every year and get a good whiff of West River country, but I need the sky and horizon.  One summer I didn’t make it back to South Dakota and by Christmas I was as shack wacky as I’d ever been.

I have more blessings than I can count-a husband of 26 years, 2 daughters in college, a job I love in social work, many opportunities to make music and have fun with our friends, and a spiritual community that helps me expand what I think of as sacred.  My parents are both alive and living full time in Florida now-each year with them is a real gift.  I still love to travel, especially in Mexico and Central America, but I’m glad to return to our home in Eau Claire.  I’ve had my share of hard times, but they’ve probably taught me more about myself than the good times.  One of those hard times was breast cancer 3 ½ years ago, but I’m one of the lucky ones who survived. The years since have been a gift-life is good, huh?
