After school, joined the Army and spent 13 months in Germany.  Bought a 56 VW bug for 75 dollars and drove all over West Germany.  Walter was stationed by Stuttgart so seen him a few times and I had a brother and sister-in-law by Wurzburg, while I was stationed in Augsburg which isn't  very far from Munich and the famous Oktoberfest.  It was alot of fun and a pretty country.

I returned to Lemmon and worked at various jobs while I finished my Army career in the National Guard.  In 1979, I decided to use the G I bill and went to a tech school in Alexandria, MN and studied aircraft electronics.  Moved to Pendleton, OR after school and worked at a new avionics shop at the airport.  Was lucky to be there for their hottest summer stretch of plus 100 degree heat for 12 days in a row.

A schoolmate called me and wanted me to come to Fargo and start a new avionics shop with him.  After that hot summer I thought that would be cool to move.  That winter in Fargo we had 7 days of -100 degree wind chill.  (this was the old formula for computing wind chill but it was darn cold)  Aviation industry took it hard and a lot of avionics shops took a hit including ours.

Moved to Dickinson and repaired office equipment then moved back to Lemmon and worked for the Parks dept for the city.

In 1987 I married Delilah Barnes Derschan and gained 3 stepchildren.  Brad and his family live 2 miles from our farm, so we go to al ot of school functions for the grandkids.  Brenda is single and in Rapid City.  Brooke is in Pinedale WY with her family.  We have 5 grandkids and enjoy them alot.

We continue to farm and ranch and Delilah works at Bank of the West in town.

Here are three of our grandchildren.
