Well, Jeanette, you have finally motivated me.  The threat of a belly dancer story was enough persuasion to get me going. I have enjoyed reading everyone’s bios.

I married Bill Penfield just two months after high school graduation.  We lived in Lemmon for about a year, then moved to the ranch southeast of Lemmon, north of East Lemmon Lake. Since then, the farthest we have moved is ˝ mile up the road and then back.

We have three children and three grandchildren.   Our oldest, Chad, graduated from LATI in Watertown in 1991 as an electronic technician. He works for Sound Pro in Rapid City, married to Sarah, an art teacher at West Middle School in Rapid City.  They have two beautiful little girls named Madison and Jenna.  We are blessed to see them often, thankful that they are just 200 miles away. Chad keeps very busy, servicing TVs in the Black Hills, Wyoming and Nebraska.  Those of you in these areas may have had him working on your big screen TVs.

Our middle child, Shane, as of Sept. 2007, lives just 7 minutes from our place.  For a while I was afraid he was going to be a professional student at USD. But he received his Jurist Doctor and Masters in Public Administration in 2003.  He worked for a large law firm and Rapid City, but yearned for the quiet lifestyle in Lemmon. He opened a law practice in Lemmon last October. So far he has been busy and far from quiet.  Shane will be running for States Attorney here in the June primary. His wife Kelli is a grade school teacher.  For right now she helps Shane in the office and takes care of their adorable one year old toddler, Nathan. And Grandma gets to baby sit whenever she wants.  One of the perks to being a grandparent, you can spoil them and send them home at then end of the day! Or you can spoil them a week and send them home!

Kayla is our youngest child.  She graduated with a bachelor’s degree; major and minor in Bible and Business in 2005.  She has lived with us off and on, but ranch life seems to interest her the most right now.  She has been good help on the ranch. Especially two years ago when Bill broke his hand and needed help with calving. Kayla enjoys traveling. She went sky diving at Eloy, Arizona this winter. Something she knew better not to tell her parents before the jump. We thought she was visiting relatives.

I was a 4-H mom for 17 years. I helped our kids with

their projects. The cattle projects were my favorite.

I may have missed my calling and should have been a

beautician. (the calves required shampoos, blow drying

and hair trimming) With the children raised, we have

actually found time to take a few vacations during the

winter.  I still enjoy riding horseback, working cattle,

and gardening. I have semi-mastered the computer, a

lot of self-taught trial and error, especially the

accounting programs.

Bill thought my bio was pretty boring. But after

thinking about it, along with Jeanette’s observations;

my life has been stable, very blessed, with a

wonderful, caring husband, three fantastic children,

daughter-in-laws and grandchildren.  There have been

trials and tribulations in which we have grown and

learned from; but basically a very sheltered lifestyle,

for which I am thankful. We give God all the glory. I

look forward to reading more bios and possibly going

to the camp out.

Thank you Jeanette for been so persistent and for

all the work you have done.
